Alicia L. McCollum

I’m no stranger to the moving process!  I was born in Niagara Falls, New York, but also lived in Albany, New York, Niagara Falls again, and Youngstown, Ohio as my family moved around with my Father’s job transfers.  Our final stop was Michigan – first in Troy and then Ypsilanti.  

I graduated with a liberal arts degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  My majors in psychology and history have served me well in my real estate career.  I believe real estate is a people business and my studies as well as the experiences I’ve had with different people in diverse areas have prepared me for the challenges and excitement of this industry.

I have enjoyed working in real estate for over twenty years.  I began my career in residential property management as a part of a leasing team for a large Ypsilanti apartment community where my focus was renewal leasing and resident retention.   I had the opportunity to develop exceptional customer service skills as I negotiated renewal leases with our residents. 

I entered the management side of the industry when I transferred to a high rise apartment community in Southfield.   While there, I was able to continue honing those customer service skills and really excel in detail work as well.   I continued to develop and enhance all of those skills when I moved back to the Ann Arbor area and entered the student housing arena as a part of the management team for a high rise student housing building on the campus of the University of Michigan. 

As a professional in property management, I used my knowledge of the industry, skill and attention to detail to help people meet their rental housing needs.  Particularly with student housing, I learned to look at problems from multiple angles and brainstorm creative solutions.  I also learned to expect the unexpected from my days in student housing!

I now use the qualities I’ve built over the years in residential and student property management to help people fulfill their home ownership dreams.  My background and property management experience also uniquely qualifies me to work with investors seeking rental properties.

When I’m not working for you on real estate transactions I enjoy walking, working as a greeter and singer at my church, and singing with the Ypsilanti Community Choir.
